When election campaigns enter the home stretch, websites are the most important channel for disseminating information to the voting public. SiteScanner measured the actual availability of the parties' websites in the period 20 May - 3 June.
SiteScanner measures website availability by creating an automatic virtual visitor that enters a site every ten minutes, 24 hours a day. This is exactly what happens when real voters visit a website.
Feminist Initiative was the party with the lowest availability, six hours of downtime. The Swedish Centre Party had three hours downtime while the Christian Democratic Party and the Green Party of Sweden each had just over an hour of downtime in the two weeks in which measurements were taken.
The other parties have had a stable web presence in the closing stages of the election campaign; the Liberal Party of Sweden, Swedish Left Party and Pirate Party had 100% availability.
SiteScanner also measured the total load times of the start pages. The Centre Party's site took the longest. Visitors had to wait more than 14 seconds for the start page to finish loading. Feminist Initiative's start page loaded the fastest, taking just half a second to come up on the screen.
